झरोखा Automatic tiling for macOS

Every window,
in its place.

हर खिड़की, अपनी जगह।

Jharokha arranges your windows the moment you open them. No dragging, no snapping zones, no thinking. Stacks when it's crowded, glides when it moves, keeps quiet when you share your screen.

क्या करता है What it does

A tidy desk,
without the tidying.

01

It tiles itself

Open a window and it takes its place. Close one and the rest close the gap. Grid, Columns, Rows or Side — chosen per desktop, remembered per screen.

⌃⌥R
02

Stacks, not chaos

More windows than tiles? They stack neatly, with a little pill showing who's waiting. Scroll through without lifting your hands.

⌃⌥⌘↓
03

Knows how big apps want to be

Jharokha learns the size each app refuses to go below, and gives browsers and editors the roomy tiles. On a small laptop screen it overlaps a touch instead of giving up.

04

Drag to swap

Pick up a window and every tile lights up. A live preview shows the result before you let go. Hold ⌥⌘ to drop it onto a stack instead.

05

Resize like a mosaic

Drag any edge and the neighbours follow. A soft blur hides the slow redraws other tilers make you watch.

⌃⌥=
06

A layout for every desktop

Desktop 1 for writing, Desktop 2 for calls. Save which app goes where, and Jharokha puts them back every time.

07

Pin it everywhere

A video, a timer, a call. Pin an app and it follows you to every desktop and every screen, tucked in a corner.

⌃⌥⌘P
08

Tab View

Every window, drawn where it actually sits on each of your screens. Hold ⌃⌥, tap ⇥, let go.

⌃⌥⇥

तीन रूप Three modes

Present.
Keep the rest to yourself.

Focus

One window fills the screen. Press again and everything slides back.

⌃⌥Z

No Peek

Everything but the window you're in fades to a whisper.

⌃⌥D

Privacy

Share one window. Everything else becomes a calm card with an eye to reveal it.

Privacy Mode: your shared window stays sharp, everything else waits behind a card. Show and hide as many as you like.

कुंजियाँ Hands on the keys

One prefix. Everything.

Every action lives behind ⌃⌥. Change any of them in Settings — Jharokha warns you before you clash with macOS.

झरोखा

नाम The name

A window built to be looked through.

A jharokha is the carved stone window of Rajasthan's palaces: a frame of many small panes, each one placed with care, so the room behind it stays calm and private. Jharokha does the same for your screen.

सवाल Questions

Fair questions.

Is it really free?

Yes. Jharokha is open source: every feature, no trial, no licence key. If it earns a place on your Mac, you can buy me a chai.

What does Jharokha need access to?

Only Accessibility, which is how every window manager on the Mac moves windows. No Screen Recording, no network, no account.

Do I have to disable System Integrity Protection?

Never. Jharokha uses the same public tools as the apps you already trust.

Multiple monitors? Vertical ones?

Each screen and each desktop tiles on its own. Vertical monitors stack top to bottom, ultrawides get more columns.

What about apps that shouldn't tile?

Float a window with ⌃⌥F, or take an app out of tiling for good from the menu. Dialogs and panels are left alone automatically.
